The other day I got some of my photos printed out poster size, and the photo above was the one that the printer liked best.  It was taken in Spain last Spring, where I came across these two as we walked along the promenade – quite a way from the centre of town, just in a relatively quiet corner.  It gave the impression of peace of course, but a guarded peace with the father holding onto the son’s ankle, so the boy can’t wander off or be taken away.  It gives the obvious message of peace and serenity a harder undercurrent and edge and leaves me wondering whether the child is really secure – and what about the bike?  Taken with a Sony H9 with minimal postprocessing, just a little cropping.  There are more of my photos from Spain in my Europe flickr collection.
