Usually it is a diesel multiple unit that makes the journey between Mayrhofen and Jenbach, but once or twice a day in the summer the train is steam-hauled and is made up of old time coaches. Here’s a shot of the train running along the valley towards Mayrhofen, in the Zillertal near Innsbruck. There is another old steam train, this time rack driven, that goes up from Jenbach to Achensee and is well worth seeing. The whole area, of course, is very beautiful. Taken with a Sony H9 the main problem was not to get the train too obscured by the prodigious amounts of smoke the engine produced. And to try to get some of the beauty of the valley, not just the train itself. My large Mayrhofen set on flickr is here. DSC01848
