California Surfing

February 22nd, 2009

Taken in Encinitas (D Street), southern California with a Sony H9 at wide aperture and very fast shutter.  The shutter speed serves to freeze the motion, but the wide aperture means a shallow depth of field and more critical focusing.  In this photo I love the wild water spray, the energy of the surfer and the light reflecting off his wet arms.  See my best of California surfing set on flickr.  DSC04998.
