The Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway runs between Cheltenham and Toddington and is being extended north towards Broadway in the Cotswolds.  It runs both steam engines and diesels, operating most days in the summer and weekends at other times except for the winter closed season (Jan to March).  This shot was taken towards the end of the Christmas Diesel Day on December 27th 2008 at Toddington as the train prepared for departure.  The Christmas lights add a festive touch and the tungsten bulbs a warmth to the shot.  The RAW file was processed in Aperture (for levels), Noise Ninja (ISO 800) and Photoshop (some layer blending).  Apart from the noise, the biggest problem was the bright sky which was threatening to mask the rest of the shot but Aperture coped well with that.  A candidate for HDR perhaps.  See an earlier photo on this blog or my Christmas Trains set on flickr.  DSC03886.
