Four Snowmen

Four Snowmen

February 14th, 2009

We’ve had summer and autumn with the last two posts, so here’s a shot from this winter.  Just up the road from where I live, I came across these four snowmen all outside one house – obviously a house with industrious children!  Quite a variety of styles of snowman too, but a good effort considering we get very little snow here so the children don’t get much practice.  This year we have had more snow than usual so some children even tried making an igloo – but when I came across it, it was very fallen down and sad looking.  This image needed some adjustment because the snow was too blue – perhaps the white balance was off?  Otherwise just a bit of levels, sharpening and a little saturation.  Btw, I usually sharpen using a high-pass filter with overlay blending in Photoshop; seems to work pretty well without introducing too much noise.  More shots of this spring on my flickr – a work in progress as I write this.  DSC06772.
