Sunset Sailing

Sunset Sailing

February 4th, 2009

During the Spring and early Autumn a number of our students in the Combined Cadet Force go sailing at South Cerney.  I have driven them quite a few times and that gives me the opportunity to get some photos of sailing, kayaking and wind-surfing.  I usually try to get shots of the students doing whatever they are supposed to be doing – or sometimes getting it wrong.  So I get lots of canoe and boat action and some shots of students falling in or otherwise coming to grief.  Just occasionally I take a landscape shot, and this was one of those times.  It was getting very dark to be taking photos and the sun was shining straight across the lake into my eyes, but the sunset was worth the effort.  A bit of processing later brought up the natural colours, then I added a blue gradient to emphasise the sky producing the effect shown.
