This shot was taken at Black’s Beach just north of San Diego, California on the last full day of my holiday last summer.  My son was surfing as were a few others and, of course, I took a few photos.  I caught the girl at the front surfing on her own but also got a series of shots of them surfing together.  Taken with a Sony a350 and Tamron 200-500mm almost at full stretch.  Problem with this shot was that the sun was behind the surfers, thus giving some nice relections off their wet backs, but also putting their fronts in shadow.  I’ve lifted the shadow a bit in Aperture and added a bit of sharpening in Photoshop.  Then I reduced the resulting noise with Noise Ninja.  My California collection on flickr is here.  DSC07759
