Young Musician

March 12th, 2009

From time to time at my school we put on special events for the schools in the area.  This was a young musicians day for local schools where the youngsters rehearsed all day for an evening concert.  I took photos during the rehearsals, so could not use flash.  The biggest problem was the lighting – there wasn’t much of it leading to very slow exposures.  And not only that, but the floodlights are sodium vapour so the light is a horrible orange colour.  The corresponding set on flickr has not had the colours adjusted much, but for this one I tried to get it right using the Adjust Colour command in Photoshop.  I then used Fade Adjust Colour to reduce the effect slightly.  Changing the White Balance just did not work with this sodium lighting.  Taken with a Canon 400D and 55-200mm lens.  IMG_0143
