Turning Eddystone

The West Somerset Railway at Minehead has a new turntable which is used to turn steam engines so they can run engine first instead of tender first. At the Spring Steam Gala there was quite a crowd to watch the turntable in use – this time on 34028 Eddystone. You can see the effort of the men to get the turntable moving – and it would need the same effort to stop it again in exactly the right place. More from the West Somerset Railway here on flickr.
