Me and my camera

Me and my camera

Hi folks – this is my blog to show off some of my (better) photos.  I’m trying out the YAPB (Yet Another PhotoBlog) plugin and the Grain template and see how I get on.  No doubt changes will be made with the help of my local WordPress experts!

So what camera do I use?  A Sony Alpha 350.  I like the price which means I have more money for lenses.  I like the number of megapixels (14) which allows me to crop hard – which I do quite a lot, often picking out details or faces from a larger picture.  I like the Liveview and and fold out LCD although I don’t use it as much as I thought I would – I do use it for high shots and especially for ground level shots of plants and flowers.  I don’t like the limited ISO range and poor noise performance at higher ISOs.  I have the Sony G series 70-300 mm which is nice and sharp and fast focussing but in sports work is no use when the action is up close.  I have Tamron 28-300 mm which is a very useful carry round lens but not as sharp as I would like.  I also have the Tamron 17-50 mm f2.8 which is great for my train or landscape shots, though I think I would like it to go a little wider.  Edit – I forgot my Tamron 200-500 mm heavyweight;  I don’t mind the weight too much (yes I have used it hand-held!) but I do find it excessively big when fully extended.  The quality is not bad, but it’s a bit slow to focus and could do with a focus limit button.  It’s good when I use it, but I don’t use it as much as I should because it’s so big.  A Metz flashgun, a monopod, and a Slingshot 200 complete the set-up.  Btw the photo was taken by Jonathan.  My flickr is at http://www.flickr.com/photos/chrisleigh/

    Hello,

I’ve sent you a flickrmail concerning an image request.
Please advise if you did receive it.
    Thank you.

    Regards,

  • You had took some pictures I think at D the past couple of weeks but I don’t see any posted? I’m an older guy with gray hair, bright colored Rhasta colored RAT surfboard. I also had some nephews that you might have shot pictures of I think. Anything from D that day?

  • Hi Jeff, I haven’t sorted through all my photos from this year’s trip to Encinitas. If you can let me know what days you were on the beach I can try and pick some out, otherwise I’ll look through all the D street shots. Email me at chrisleigh2 [at] gmail [dot] com
